Mason’s has deep roots in the world of Italian tailoring, dating back to the '50s in the workshop of Marina di Carrara led by grandfather Vilmo, a renowned pattern maker. Creative ingenuity and a love for fashion were Mr. Vilmo's trump cards, a reference point of that era for those seeking elegance and Italian identity through the garments of Facis, a prestigious Italian brand born in the '30s. 

Vilmo was a beacon of style in a city like Carrara, already known as the world capital of marble and a hub of new trends. In this vibrant context of cultural and commercial inspiration, Giorgio Martini, Vilmo's son and future founder of Mason’s, began his venture into the world of clothing. Thanks to his father's legacy, Giorgio developed a remarkable aesthetic sense and a strong entrepreneurial mindset, which led to the birth of two precursors of Mason’s: Nemart and Red Jacket.

Inspiration

Childhood spent among the fabrics and needles of the paternal atelier, transoceanic travels, and a progressive vision of fashion are the pillars upon which Giorgio Martini founded the company Foster S.p.A. In 1974, during a trip to South America, Martini discovered a series of military uniforms belonging to the Colombian liberation army: the potential of those garments for creating a civilian and practical wardrobe did not escape him, giving rise to the Mason's brand.

Martini was fascinated by the essentiality and functionality of the military uniform, made of sturdy Cotton Libertador, a material that acquires a unique character over time. Iconic figures like Ernesto Che Guevara and Fidel Castro became symbols of Mason's identity, embodying the aspiration for freedom encapsulated in the strictness of the military uniform. Martini's insight led to the transposition of the practicality of the military uniform into an everyday wardrobe, making Mason's an emblem of functional aesthetics, with a cargo pant capable of living multiple stories, bearing witness to the lives of those who wore it.
