The garment-dyed

The garment-dyed

The coloring of garments using the "yarn dyeing" technique is a distinctive element of the Mason's brand. A revolutionary technique that allows us to present our iconic models in a diverse palette of colors and shades. This characteristic gives us the possibility to satisfy our customers' tastes. Moreover, working with yarn dyeing makes our products always trendy and strongly linked to Italian craftsmanship and know-how.

Meaning of Yarn Dyeing

The technique of "yarn dyeing" consists of dyeing an already manufactured garment inside vats filled with the desired pigment. In this process, the white or raw fabric is dyed in the final phase of the manufacturing cycle, unlike traditional processes, where fabrics have already been subjected to dyeing. It is easy to understand the painstaking craftsmanship behind this process, which makes each creation unique and exclusive in its imperfection.

Origins

Yarn dyeing is a versatile technique and is also particularly ancient, as it is known in Japan as shibori since the eighth century. The name shibori comes from the word "shiboru," which means to squeeze, twist, in fact, fabrics before being immersed in dye, are folded on themselves and tied with string, clips or threads. In this way, some parts of the fabric are not dyed, and original and particular decorations can be obtained. In general, dyeing fabrics in this way is a technique not available to everyone, as it presupposes a great deal of work, attention to detail, and a considerable economic investment. All elements that make this process employed in the world by only a few brands.

Features

The use of this technique produces a depth and a chromatic intensity impossible to achieve with pre-dyed fabrics. The colors are rich in nuances and shades that make each garment different from the other, making them almost unique models with a lived and artisanal look. After the dyeing treatment, the garments, in fact, acquire a patina that could be defined as vintage: the color is not shiny and has a very soft hand.
